Laptops for students
E4E are supporting local young people by tackling digital poverty in Derby, head on. Local and national research highlight the impact of Covid-19 on the digital divide and the detrimental widening of the educational gap for disadvantaged students who are less likely to have access to appropriate (1) IT devices, a (2) reliable internet connection and (3) the quiet space needed to access remote learning.
In partnership with Derby County Community Trust, Rolls-Royce, Derby City Council, Marketing Derby and Derby schools we are actively working to help provide IT devices to local children that do not have one.
Whether young people are studying in school or at home there is clear evidence that basic IT resources such as a laptop are essential to accessing and engaging in learning. We are in touch with many families and young people that simply do not have one in their home lives. We are absolutely determined to do something positive to help.
There are four ways in which you can help this initiative.

If you are handing in old laptops we promise the safe and confidential cleansing of your device. Thanks to L.E.A.D IT Services your old equipment will be wiped, and then prepared by way of needed filters and the addition of Windows 10 software.
Generally speaking old devices need to be less than 5-7 years old depending on its spec. Some models could still be useful if older. If you’re unsure just get in touch and tell us the model and age of your equipment (we’ll need the power cables too, please).
